In April 2007, the Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation for the state of Karnataka invited EMBARQ India to do a critical review of the Traffic and Transport Plan for Bangalore, the state’s capital and the epicenter of India’s booming technology industry.

Bangalore, widely known for its telecommunications and information technology industry, has been dubbed the "Silicon Valley" of India. Located in the South Indian state of Karnataka, the modern metropolis is home to nearly 9 million people, making it the third most populous city in the country.
