EMBARQ India, the newest node in the EMBARQ network opens its office in Mumbai, India.

EMBARQ is asked to review, plan and implement the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) funded Bus Rapid Transit System in Indore. The BRT Systems are expected to be operational by 2011.
May
EMBARQ signs a MOU with the Urban Mass Transit Corporation (UMTC), a joint venture between the MOUD, the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Infrastructure Leasing and Finance Services Company (IL&FSC). Under this MOU, EMBARQ is to provide assistance in improving the operations of the existing BRT pilot corridor in Pune as well as to modernize and reorganize the existing bus system.

EMBARQ signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indore City Transport Services Limited (ICTSL), to engage with the local authorities and provide technical assistance for implementation of Indore’s Bus Rapid Transit System.
2007

EMBARQ is to support the MOUD in capacity building and specifically, BRT technical workshops for the 11 Indian mission cities planning BRT systems.
April
The Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation for the state of Karnataka invites EMBARQ to do a critical review of the Traffic and Transport plan for Bangalore. EMBARQ's provides advice focused on practical and cost effective ways for reducing green house gas emissions, urban sprawl, and air pollution in Bangalore.
2006

Prospecting for Indian projects and activities begins with the identification of a number of possible sites for future engagement. This is followed by consultation with a wide range of stakeholders in the private and public sector.
March
EMBARQ participates and plays an influential role in the launch of the MOUD’s National Urban Transport Policy which stresses the mobility of people rather than vehicles. The policy sets the guidelines for cities that want to receive money under the JnNURM, a USD 11 billion fund for BRT and other sustainable urban transport projects in Indian cities.
2004
EMBARQ launches and leads the Partnership for Sustainable Urban Transport in Asia (PSUTA), under which Pune, one of the member cities pledges its support to making transport more sustainable. In 2006, under the partnership, the project is successfully handed over to the Pune city authorities.
