
In April 2007, the Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation for the state of Karnataka invited EMBARQ India to do a critical review of the Traffic and Transport Plan for Bangalore, the state’s capital and the epicenter of India’s booming technology industry. EMBARQ India advised Bangalore to pursue a traffic strategy that expands the role of mass transit and improves upon Bangalore’s bus system, run by one of the most efficient bus operators in the country. EMBARQ India’s advice focused on practical and cost-effective ways for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, urban sprawl, and air pollution in Bangalore.
