EMBARQ successfully conducted a two day long workshop on Bus Systems Planning and Implementation, on the 26th and 27th of April, 2010. The workshop was held in Delhi at the National Institute for Training Highway Engineers
The workshop targeted city officials who are involved in planning, implementing and upgrading their city's bus systems using funds from the Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), an urban modernization scheme launched by the Government of India. The workshop had more than 30 participants from 14 Indian cities, and included transport practitioners, subject experts and students. The workshop also provided a great opportunity for city officials to talk, exchange notes about their projects and learn from peers.
The workshop was part of the EMBARQ’s ongoing project on creating low-carbon public transport mobility solutions for rapidly growing Indian cities, funded by the Strategic Programme Fund of the United Kingdom British High Commission (UK SPF).
The workshop was conducted by EMBARQ Senior Transport Engineer Dario Hidalgo , CST-India Technical Director Madhav Pai, CST-India Transport Projects Manager Amit Bhatt and transport planner and independent consultant Vamsee Modugola, who helped develop the bus systems guidelines under the UK SPF grant.
In addition to UK SPF EMBARQ would also like to thank the Institute of Urban Transport for their continued support.
